Pawgloo™’s matching experience surfaces compatible pets near you based on breed, size, temperament, vaccination status, and play style. Here’s how to use it.
Before you start
Make sure your pet’s profile is complete, especially breed, size, temperament, and vaccination status. The matching experience uses all of these fields to calculate compatibility scores. An incomplete profile will show fewer, less accurate matches.
Step 1: Open Explore
Tap the Explore tab in the bottom navigation. This is where you browse nearby pet profiles.
Step 2: Browse your matches
The app shows nearby pet cards with compatibility information. Each card shows:
- Pet name, breed, and age
- Distance from your location
- Compatibility score
- Whether vaccinations are up to date
- Pet photos
Swipe right if you are interested or swipe left to pass.
Step 3: View a pet’s profile
Tap a card to see the full profile, including temperament notes, health and profile details, vaccination status, compatibility, and photos.
Step 4: Like or respond to a like
Swipe right to like a pet. In the Likes screen, you can review incoming likes and accept or reject them. A like does not create a match by itself. Only reciprocal likes form a match.
Step 5: Coordinate after matching
When both pet parents like each other, the match appears on the Matches screen. Open the match to start a one-to-one communication partner chat channel. Use chat to arrange the date, time, place, and any dog-specific precautions directly with the other pet parent. The app does not create a dated play-date booking.
Planned experience, not live
The following booking flow is an unshipped design and is not available in the live app.
The planned experience includes a direct Request Play Date action with:
- Proposed date and time
- Location (your place, their place, or a neutral spot like a park)
- A short note (optional)
Under this planned flow, the other pet parent would receive a notification and could accept, decline, or propose a different time. You would be notified as soon as they respond.
The planned design also includes an owner response-rate indicator on the pet’s full profile and a pet availability setting that would limit results to active matches. These response-rate, availability, request, location-selection, and accept, decline, or counterproposal features are not live.
Tips for better matches
- Add a clear, recent photo so other pet parents can recognize your pet
- Keep your pet’s vaccination records current; outdated vaccinations can affect compatibility information
- Use chat after matching to discuss play style, health considerations, supervision, location, and dog-specific precautions
